President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė sent congratulations to U.S. President Barack Obama on the national holiday, the Independence Day.
„Twenty years ago, Lithuania and the United States reestablished diplomatic relations, and I would like to take the opportunity to once again underline the importance of the support extended by your country and its people to Lithuania on the path to re-independence as well as to express my delight with our cooperation, growing ever stronger in security, energy and other areas,” the President writes in the letter of congratulations.
The President also underlines that the Lithuanian Americans, numbering more than 700 000, have been contributing for many decades to building a prosperous America, and that in the past twenty years they have been making a significant input to strengthening the relationship between Lithuania and the United States.
The President wished the US leader and all American people prosperity and success.
